Summary

SAP Central Business Configuration is a new capability that will make it possible to configure a business process that spans across different SAP solutions from one central place.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud will be the first solution to be supported by SAP Central Business Configuration. It will bring reduced configuration efforts, higher flexibility, faster company rollouts, and partner extensions.

Characteristics of the course

This is a 4 hours course, aimed at a large public, mostly project managers, implementation consultants and key users. Participants would benefit better if they have a general understanding of customer implementations of SAP S/4HANA Cloud and the SAP Activate methodology.

You’ll learn about key features such as Scoping and Project Experience and the Organizational Structure app. These guide users through all the necessary steps to decide which business processes should be in scope, to manage your projects, or to set up the organizational structure of your company.

Tips

The course is fairly simple and informs you of the changes to come with CBC (Central Business Configuration). To go faster you can simply download the slides and read them. If you have previous knowledge of S/4HANA Cloud projects, you can be done in 1h. Otherwise, follow the planned structure to earn your certificate of completion.

Key Learnings

Unit 1: Vision and Customer Value

Central Business Configuration will be enabled first for SAP S/4HANA Cloud (Essentials Edition).

Key benefits will be the ability to manage further SAP cloud implementations, faster company rollouts and reduced configuration efforts.

Unit 2: Impact on Implementation Activities for SAP S/4HANA Cloud

You can find the documentation for the SAP Activate methodolog on the SAP Roadmap Viewer.

The “Explore phase finished” milestone triggers the initial pre-configuration (deployment) of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system with the chosen scope.

Unit 3: System Landscape and System Request Process

There is a new activation engine in SAP S/4HANA Cloud.

Central Business Configuration is always the first system handed over to the customer.

Thanks to Central Business Configuration, ticket-based process to add a new country is no longer needed.

Unit 4: Project Experience - Overview

In Project Experience, milestones are used to trigger and control processes in the background to simplify the user experience, trigger the change to the next project phase, lock project activities currently not active.

Statuses that can be set are: Open, In Progress and Completed.

Unit 5: Scoping Experience

The term ‘Scope Items’ is replaced by ‘Scenario’. The scoping basket provides overviews of all scenarios in scope and their corresponding features and functions.

Unit 6: Configuration Experience in the Explore Phase

After confirming and deploying an organizational entity in the back-end system, it is still possible to rename and extend it.

Simplified and Full-width mode are display modes available for the Organizational Structure.

Unit 7: Configuration Experience in the Realize and Deploy Phase

The main activity in the Realize phase is just fine-tuning.

Unit 8: Future Outlook

According to the current future outlook, Scoping Experience, Project Experience, Content Structure will be further enhanced.

Some of the planned capabilities for Project Experience are multiple parallel change projects and flexible starter system setup.
